The Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park is a two-acre state park in Douglas County , Nevada . It is located in the Carson Valley south of Carson City and is accessible via Nevada State Route 88 . Dangberg Ranch was one of the first and largest farms in Nevada. The Dangberg Home Ranch was founded in 1857 by the German immigrant Heinrich Friedrich Dangberg (senior). He built a simple hut and began clearing and tilling the land. After his marriage the house was enlarged accordingly to be able to raise 5 children in it. Dangberg himself developed into a successful farmer, businessman and politician and when he died in 1904 the area of the farm comprised 8,100 hectares.

The family founded a company, Dangberg Land & Livestock Co. , in 1902, and expanded their properties to over 20,000 hectares, including sheep and cattle farms in Douglas County and neighboring California's Alpine County .

The village of Minden was founded in 1906 by the Dangbergs and, together with other ranchers, set up several agriculturally oriented business areas.

The Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park, which opened in 1991, contains several historic buildings that were built between 1857 and 1917, including the Dangbergs' 15-room home. With this museum and the other farm buildings, the settlement history of the region is also shown in changing exhibitions.

An array of birds can be seen in the state park and surrounding farm area, including bald eagles , great blue herons , various falcons and owls, Canada geese, sandhill cranes , ibises, and plovers . Grazing cattle and calves are also featured on the Park Land and Cattle Company's farm .
