brothel

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Brothel (of French. Bordel "wooden hut"; Synonyms : House of Pleasure, Establishment , colloquially also Puff ) is the name of a building or part of a building (mostly women) in the human sexual services offering and exercise. There are also brothels, especially in Japan, where providers of sexual services are being replaced by high-quality sex dolls .

history

Brothel scene in the 16th century ( Braunschweiger Monogrammist , 1537)

In Pompeii , the only reliably attributable remains of a brothel known as a Lupanar , which was excavated from the ashes of Vesuvius, have survived to this day . See also: brothels in antiquity .

The colloquial term puff comes from the dice board game puff , which differs only slightly from today's backgammon . Pouf was played in inns in the Middle Ages where prostitutes offered their services.

Pope Sixtus IV is said to have had public brothels built in Rome in the 15th century. The proceeds from this would benefit the Holy See.

The operation of brothels for men or officers was also common in armies. B. Wehrmacht brothels were set up in Germany during World War II and consolation women were forced into prostitution in Japan for war brothels . Prostitution spread across all classes of society, there were both luxury brothels such as One Two Two and less glamorous establishments in which women from the lower classes were forced into prostitution. It was not uncommon for women from service occupations, such as laundresses, to be among the prostitutes. The waitress was also seen as a job in which the transition to prostitution was fluid. In most of the concentration camps for men, the SS temporarily (1942–1945) ran camp brothels in which they forced women into prostitution.

In Germany there are different versions of the brothel, including Eros-Center, a whorehouse , brothel streets appointment homes, model homes, Lovemobile , massage parlors, Domina studios , night clubs, nude clubs etc. Japanese Soap country revolve around swimming with prostitutes.

A brothel in which both suitors and prostitutes are male is known as the House of Boys .

Sometimes brothels have a contact yard in which prostitutes initiate the desired sexual acts with their clients.

A special form of a brothel is the all-inclusive club (also: flatrate brothel), in which after paying the fee for the customer there are no further costs and apparently unlimited sexual services can be used. This form of prostitution attracted nationwide attention in the summer of 2009 when a brothel chain was advertised with a so-called sex flat rate when it opened a new branch near Stuttgart.

There are said to have been 902 brothels in Switzerland in 2015.

Legal position

Law in Germany

In the past, anyone who “ran a business in which the exercise of prostitution is promoted through measures that go beyond the mere granting of an apartment, accommodation or residence and the associated ancillary services” was punished. But since the amendment to the Prostitution Act of January 1, 2002, “promoting prostitution” is no longer considered a criminal offense in Germany . Nevertheless, a brothel operator can be prosecuted according to § 180a StGB, among other things if:

  • the prostitutes working in the brothel are economically dependent on the operator or a pimp ,
  • the operator intervenes dirigistically in the activities of the prostitute or
  • Minors engage in prostitution or minors are granted access or sexual services in the premises.

Supervisory authorities and the police, like the public order office and tax investigation department, have control and access rights at all times to the brothel rooms in which the service takes place.

Generally this is true in all brothels domestic authority .

Since Germany has relatively liberal legislation on prostitution in comparison with other countries, "brothel tourism" from abroad is assumed in some border regions.

With regard to sex doll brothels, not all legal questions in Germany have yet been clarified.
