The Freudenhaus Hase is a brothel in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen and at the same time a cultural venue. Conceived as the first Laufhaus in Berlin since January 3, 2005 , the establishment has been offering artists space for exhibitions , concerts and theater performances in loose succession since 1996 . Before 2005 there were so-called running days .
Since 1996, works by the artists Wolfgang Ramisch, Ipett Schwarzweldt, Gabriele Trillhaase, Zohar Kaniel (photographer) and Dodi Reifenberg have been exhibited.
The artist and director Annette kiss staged in the house in 2006 on behalf of the Berlin theater institution Hebbel am Ufer the piece joy services . The play was created through interviews in collaboration with several prostitutes and the prostitution association Hydra e. V. The aim of the production was a critical examination of the subject of prostitution. After the world premiere on January 14th, with a concert by the Berlin queer artist Claire Grube , there were a further eleven performances until the end of February 2006.
Several media reported about the location, which is unusual for a play, as well as the play itself. Corresponding contributions were made by several television stations, such as ARTE , 3sat and RBB, as well as various newspapers and magazines, such as taz , Berliner Morgenpost , the weekly newspaper Freitag and the magazine Focus . The ethnological methods of field research used by the director Annette Kuß for the development of the play , the artistic implementation of the socially taboo subject of prostitution, and the inclusion and reflection of the joy house Hase as an authentic place and the prostitutes there and their suitors were also the subject of an ethnographic study in 2006 Conference in Berlin.
In 2013 the Freudenhaus Hase was one of the “crime scenes” of the Berlin crime marathon .
