Riviersonderend (German: "River Without End") is a South African city in the municipality Theewaterskloof , District Overberg , Province of Western Cape on the road N2 at a height of 155 meters above sea level. In 2011 the city had 5,245 inhabitants. Cape Town is 160 kilometers away, Swellendam 63 kilometers away.
The city is named after the Sonderend River , which rises at the foot of the Sonderend Mountains.
history
The city was founded in 1923 when Mrs. Edith McIntyre sold her farm Tierhoek to the local community of the Dutch Reformed Church in South Africa .
