European car sharing

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The European Car Sharing ( ecs ) association was the umbrella organization for European car sharing companies. It was founded in 1991 and dissolved in 2007.

The aim of the association was to create the possibility of using all connected car sharing offers. The ecs also worked on standardizing and improving the offers.

The seat of the association moved from Bremen via Hamburg and Hanover to Utrecht.

Some of the overarching tasks of the ecs are continued by the car sharing platform of the International Association for Public Transport (Union Internationale des Transports Publics - UITP). Umbrella association tasks of the CarSharing providers are now largely carried out by national umbrella associations, for example in Great Britain by "Carclubs", in Germany by the Bundesverband CarSharing eV (bcs).
