Randolph Roque Calvo (born August 28, 1951 in Agana , Guam ) is Roman Catholic Bishop of Reno , USA .

Life

Randolph Roque Calvo came to San Francisco in 1957 with his parents and six older siblings . After leaving school, he studied Catholic theology at St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park, California, and was ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of San Francisco on May 21, 1977 . He then worked as a vicar in two parishes of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, before he was sent to Rome for further studies , where he received his doctorate in canon law in 1986 . From 1987 to 1997 Calvo headed the legal department of the Archdiocese of San Francisco, and in 1996 he became President of the American Society for Canon Law . From 1997 to 2005, he served as a pastor in a large Redwood City ward . In addition, he took on various tasks in the training of candidates for the priesthood of the Archdiocese of San Francisco.

Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Bishop of Reno on December 23, 2005 . The episcopal ordination received Randolph Roque Calvo on 17 February 2006 by the Archbishop of San Francisco, George Hugh Niederauer . Co-consecrators were his predecessor Phillip Francis Straling and Auxiliary Bishop John Charles Wester from San Francisco.
