Menlo Park is a city in San Mateo County in the US state of California , United States , with 32,026 residents (as of 2010 Census ).
The composer Henry Cowell was born in the city in 1897 . Menlo Park is also the location of SRI International , which was one of the first four nodes of the Internet in 1969.
In addition to other private schools, Menlo Park is also the seat of the Alto International School , the world's first German-speaking IB school (kindergarten up to 10th grade).
In Menlo Park, the Veterans Hospital, which was demolished at the beginning of 2011, was the inspiration for the author Ken Kesey for his novel One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest .
The company Google was founded here in 1998 and the headquarters of Facebook have been here since 2011 .
In Menlo Park is Sand Hill Road , one of the most expensive streets in the world.
Demographics
According to the 2000 survey, 30,785 people (2004 - 29,600) live in 12,387 households and 7,122 families in the city. The population density is 1,173.4 people per km².
The population is made up of 72.35% white, 7.03% African American , 0.44% American Indian , 7.15% Asian, 1.26% Pacific islander and 8.56% from other ethnic groups. 26.6% of households have children under the age of 18. 46.6% of the households are marriages, 8.5% are female single households.
