Johanna Selhorst "Josie" Maran (born May 8, 1978 in Menlo Park , California ) is an American photo model who also works as an actress . But she is best known for her photos for various magazines, such as Sports Illustrated or for her work in the advertising campaign for the cosmetics company Maybelline .

Life

Her father has Polish-Russian roots, her mother's ancestors came from Holland, France and Germany. Her modeling career began at the age of twelve when a scout discovered her in a restaurant. After completing her school days at the Castilleja School, she turned back to her modeling career. Due to her - for a model - small body size of 170 cm, Maran works almost exclusively in the print sector. Since childhood, Maran has had an unusually large appendix scar , which, however, is retouched in the majority of the photographs.

In addition to her career as a model, Josie Maran started an acting career in 2001 with the independent film The Mallory Effect . She also appeared in small roles in Scorsese's Aviator and Van Helsing . In 2005 she played the role of Mia in the racing game Need for Speed: Most Wanted .

On June 2, 2006, Maran gave birth to their first child, Rumi Joon, in Los Angeles . Her daughter's father is her partner Ali Alborzi. On July 1, 2012, their second daughter was born.

In September 2007, the model launched her own line of cosmetics on the US market.
