My friend's ex-girlfriends (Original title: Little Black Book ) is an American comedy film directed by Nick Hurran from 2004 .
action
Stacy wants to make a career as a presenter on a television show. For now, she has a temporary job in the production of a show that Kippie Kann is moderating. She befriends her colleague Barb.
Barb encourages Stacy to research Stacy's friend Derek's past. Stacy finds a list of his former friends and visits them under various pretexts to elicit knowledge of Derek's past. She befriends one of the women, Joyce; however, she hides from her that she is with Derek.
It turns out that Barb did the research to lure Stacy, Derek, and his three ex-girlfriends onto a live show under various pretexts. Participation is completely surprising for the five. The angry Stacy tells intimate and embarrassing details about her colleagues in front of the camera, who then stress each other. Barb, hoping for a career boost, is thrilled, although she too becomes a subject of revelation. The debate between Stacy and Derek about honesty is broadcast live.
Stacy ends up finding a new job at another broadcaster. While listening to the song Let the River Run , which she really enjoyed, she met its singer Carly Simon, whose songs have always accompanied Stacy through life.
Reviews
James Berardinelli wrote on ReelViews that the problem is that the director and screenwriters see the comedy as "just another sitcom ." The characters wouldn't seem human. The film shows how "unsuitable" ("inept") Brittany Murphy is as an actress.
The lexicon of international films wrote: “The over-ambitious satire wants to show that control in love affairs is not necessarily good and trust is better. The film fails mainly because of the less stringent narrative style and the lack of charm of its main character. "
Awards
Brittany Murphy was nominated for a Teen Choice Award in 2005.
background
The film was shot in Boston , Los Angeles and New York City . Its production amounted to an estimated 35 million US dollars . The film grossed approximately $ 20.4 million in US cinemas.
