Holly Patricia Hunter (born March 20, 1958 in Conyers , Georgia ) is an American actress . She is an Oscar and a Golden Globe award winner.
Life
Holly Hunter was born in Georgia, the youngest of seven children to a farming family. She started acting at an early age and went to Pittsburgh in 1976 , where she took acting lessons. From 1980 to 1982 she lived and worked in New York and then went to Hollywood. She had her greatest success in 1993 with the film The Piano by Jane Campion . For this film, Hunter won an Academy Award for Best Actress in 1994 . In addition, she has so far been seen in very different roles such as Copykill or Die Firma .
Between 1995 and 2001 Hunter was married to the Polish cameraman Janusz Kamiński . She has twins with her partner, British actor Gordon MacDonald .
