reception

Hellmuth Karasek wrote in Der Spiegel that the film “marks the accuracy with which Schlöndorff viewed the life and circumstances of his elderly people. Karsten Witte said for the time : "With all the lightness of the casual characterization, the art of an undramatic concentration of motifs, this film hits the tone of an almost biblical ballad."
