Levity is an American - French drama film directed by Ed Solomon from 2003 .
action
As a teenager, Manuel Jordan killed a shop's cashier in an attempted robbery. He was sentenced to life imprisonment for this. After 22 years, however, he was released early against his will and returned to the city where he committed the crime. There he seeks some form of reparation.
Pastor Miles Evans offers Jordan a volunteer job at the local community center. Without mentioning his name, he befriends Adele Easley, the sister of his victim at the time. When Adele's son Abner gets into a gang conflict, Jordan tries to stop him from killing a member of the rival gang who shot Abner.
Reviews
Michael Wilmington praised the performances in the Chicago Tribune , especially those by Billy Bob Thornton. The film shows " spiritual intensity " that is set in the " everyday world of the USA ".
