Pietro Scalia

Pietro A. Scalia (born March 17, 1960 in Catania , Sicily , Italy ) is an Italian film editor and two-time Oscar winner .

Career

Pietro A. Scalia grew up in Switzerland and attended a German-language high school. He then studied for two years at the University at Albany, The State University of New York, and was able to do his Masters at UCLA on a scholarship .

Before working as a freelance editor, Scalia also worked as an assistant editor on Wall Street (1987) and Born on July 4th (1989). He then edited films for Ridley Scott , Bernardo Bertolucci , Oliver Stone and Rob Marshall, among others .

For his film editing at JFK - Tatort Dallas and Black Hawk Down , he was each awarded the Oscar for Best Editing .

Awards

In addition to many other awards, Scalia has been nominated for an Oscar four times to date . At the Academy Awards in 1992 ( JFK - Tatort Dallas ) and 2002 ( Black Hawk Down ), he was awarded this prize twice.
