criticism

On the Metacritic website , the film received 32 points out of 100, based on 28 US film reviews . Lisa Schwarzbaum wrote in Entertainment Weekly : “It takes enormous restraint not to conclude that this entertaining apocalyptic chaos is about nothing, because it might as well be about anything. But I doubt it. ” (Requires tremendous restraint not to conclude that this entertainingly apocalyptic mess is about nothing, since it may well be about everything. But I doubt it) . The main criticisms were that the film, unlike "normal" Hollywood productions, does not put the plot in the foreground, some roles only consist of a long monologue and the film does not provide any answers to the questions it raises.

Ann Hornaday called the film in the Washington Post "a fascinating, irritating, tolerant, visionary, pretentious, hypnotizing pop culture curio" (a fascinating, vexing, indulgent, visionary, pretentious, mesmerizing pop culture curio) .

The lexicon of international films says: “A puzzling film in which the singer Bob Dylan draws a resigned conclusion and, in view of the general mendacity, questions all values and beliefs. The unfinished-looking, sometimes absurd film draws part of its effect from the newly arranged songs by Dylan and guest appearances by many stars who are sometimes disguised beyond recognition. "
