Larry Charles
Larry Charles (born February 20, 1956 in Brooklyn , New York City ) is an American screenwriter and director.
Charles started out as a stand-up comedian in New York in the 1970s and later went to television as a screenwriter for comedy programs. He wrote scripts for series like Fridays , The Arsenio Hall Show , Seinfeld (18 episodes), Mad About You ( Mad About You , 18 episodes), The Tick , Dilbert and Entourage . On the series Leave it, Larry! ( Curb Your Enthusiasm ) he directed several times.
His first movie as a director was Masked and Anonymous in 2003 , for which he also wrote the script with Bob Dylan . He directed Borat in 2006 and Religulous in 2008 , starring late-night US talker Bill Maher . In 2009, Brüno was his second collaboration with Sacha Baron Cohen . In 2012 there was another cooperation with Der Dictator .
