MTV Unplugged is a live album by American musician Bob Dylan , released in 1995 by Columbia Records andreissuedby Sony in 2007. It documents Dylan's appearances on the then popular television series MTV Unplugged , which was recorded on November 17 and 18, 1994 at Sony Music Studios in New York . It became Dylan's most commercially successful release in recent years, reaching number 23 on the US charts andnumber 10in the UK with gold status.

The singer-songwriter originally wanted to perform with a number of traditional folk songs. However, his negotiating partners at MTV were able to convince him to prefer to play classics from his mostly early albums.
