Taylor Eigsti (born September 24, 1984 in Menlo Park ) is an American jazz pianist who is mostly neobop , but also allows funk and soul elements to flow into his music.

Live and act

He started playing the piano at the age of four and appeared in the opening act for David Benoit at the age of eight (later there followed appearances in the opening act of other greats like Diana Krall , Al Jarreau , Natalie Cole or Hank Jones ). At the age of 14 he recorded his first album (with drummer Dan Brubeck ) in 1998. A year later he gave his first lessons in a jazz workshop at Stanford University . At the same time, he graduated from the "Woodside Priory School as the second best in his class. He then began studying at the University of Southern California . In the following years he introduced himself to Marian McPartland Piano Jazz program and the BET Jazz Channel ago ; Jazziz magazine also dedicated the cover story to him in November 2006.

After publications on his own labels, he released his first album on Bob City Records with Resonance in 2003 , which made him known nationally and internationally. The following album Lucky to Be Me (with Christian McBride , Lewis Nash , James Genus , Billy Kilson and Julian Lage, among others ) led to him being nominated for two Grammys in 2007 ( Best Jazz Solo Performance and Best Instrumental Composition for his piece Argument ) . In 2010 he and his quintet released the album Daylight at Midnight .
