Bob Cashell

Robert Alan "Bob" Cashell (born April 22, 1938-2020 in Longview , Texas ; † February 11, 2020 in Reno , Nevada ) was an American politician . Between 1983 and 1987 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Nevada.

Career

Bob Cashell studied at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches until 1961 . He then served in the United States Air Force for some time . Professionally, he became a successful businessman in the Nevada hotel and casino industry. He later owned Cashell Enterprises , a company active in this sector . Politically, he initially joined the Democratic Party .

In 1982 Cashell was elected lieutenant governor of Nevada alongside Richard Bryan . He held this office between 1983 and 1987. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . In 1983 he joined the Republicans . After serving as Lieutenant Governor, he continued his previous activities. In 2002 he was elected Mayor of Reno City. He was introduced to this office in January 2003 and, after two re-elections, is expected to hold it until January 2015. Re-election in 2014 is not possible for reasons of city law. Bob Cashell had been married to Nancy Parker since 1964, with whom he had four children.
