Edward Fike

Merlin Edward Fike (born February 5, 1925 in Hopkins , Missouri , † February 19, 2018 in Nevada ) was an American politician . Between 1967 and 1971 he was lieutenant governor of the state of Nevada.

Career

Nothing is known about Edward Fike's youth and schooling. He lived at least temporarily in Las Vegas , where he was initially successful in the financial and business world. He was also a member of the Republican Party . In 1966 he was elected lieutenant governor of Nevada alongside Paul Laxalt . He held this office between 1967 and 1971. He was Deputy Governor and Chairman of the State Senate . In 1970 he ran unsuccessfully for governor.

Later his financial world collapsed in Las Vegas and Fike moved to Hawaii for a few years , where he worked as an employee in a clothing store. In 1988 he was tried in federal court on multiple fraud charges. This involved damage of $ 4.5 million. At this point, Fike was in hiding. No other information has been recorded about his life or the progress of the charges.
