Reinhold Sadler (born January 10, 1848 in Czarnikau , Prussia , † January 30, 1906 in Eureka , Nevada ) was an American politician and governor of the state of Nevada from 1896 to 1903 .

Early years and advancement

Reinhold Sadler, born in the then Prussian province of Posen (now Poland ), attended public schools in his homeland. He emigrated to the USA and went first to Virginia City , then to Eureka, where he worked as a miller, businessman and in mining. In 1880, he was elected treasurer in Eureka County . In 1895 he was appointed lieutenant governor's deputy governor of Nevada. He was sworn in as the new governor after the death of John Edward Jones and was formally elected governor of Nevada as a candidate for the Silver Party in 1898.

From April 10, 1896 to January 5, 1903, Sadler served as governor. During this time, health programs were adopted and a Farmer's Institute was established. In addition, the first measures for environmental protection were taken. In 1902 Sadler declined to run again.

After his tenure, Sadler returned to Eureka and devoted himself to his private business affairs. In 1904 he ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the US Congress . Reinhold Sadler died on January 30, 1906. He was buried in the Carson City cemetery. He had five children with his wife, Louise Zadow.
