Roswell Keyes Colcord (born April 25, 1839 in Searsport , Maine , † October 30, 1939 in Carson City , Nevada ) was an American politician ( Republican Party ). He served as governor of the state of Nevada from 1891 to 1895 .

Colcord was born in Maine where he trained as a carpenter with a shipbuilder. In 1856 he moved west to California , later to Aurora , Nevada in 1860 and finally to Virginia City in 1863 , where he became a successful mining engineer . He also started a law firm and became one of the most prominent lawyers in the state of Nevada.

Elected governor of Nevada in 1891, Colcord strengthened the state's economy. A health committee was established during his tenure and secret voting was introduced in public elections. After serving as governor, Colcord became commissioner of the United States Mint in Carson City, a position he held from 1898 to 1911. He enjoyed relatively good health until his death at the age of 100. He was buried in Carson City.
