Joseph Hansen (rower)

Joseph "Joey" Hansen (born August 13, 1979 in Reno , Nevada ) is a retired American rower .

Hansen belonged to the US eighth from 2001 . At the World Championships , the eighth in the line-up was Luke Walton , Samuel Brooks , Joseph Hansen, Erik Winters , Lucas McGee , Jonathan Watling , Bryan Volpenhein , Jason Read and helmsman Nicholas Anderson in fourth place behind the boats from Romania, Croatia and Germany.

The following year, the US eight competed with Ryan Torgerson , Garrett Klugh , Joseph Hansen, Wolfgang Moser , Michael Wherley , Eric Mueller , Bryan Volpenhein, Jonathan Watling and helmsman Pete Cipollone and won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Seville behind the Canadians and the Germans after the US eighth won the Rowing World Cup in Lucerne with Anderson instead of Cipollone.

In 2003, the US eight won silver at the World Championships in Milan behind the Canadians in the cast Ryan Torgerson, Jonathan Watling, Michael Wherley, Wolfgang Moser, Bryan Volpenhein, Jeffrey Klepacki , Joseph Hansen, Jason Read and Pete Cipollone.

In 2004, the eighth finished fourth at the World Cup in Lucerne with Wyatt Allen , Matt Deakin , Michael Wherley, Wolfgang Moser, Christopher Liwski , Christian Ahrens , Joseph Hansen, Jonathan Watling and Pete Cipollone. Two months later, at the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens, there were only five crew members from Lucerne in the boat. In the line-up Jason Read, Wyatt Allen, Christian Ahrens, Joseph Hansen, Matt Deakin, Daniel Beery , Beau Hoopman , Bryan Volpenhein and Pete Cipollone, the boat won both the heat and the final. At the finish, the eighth had one second ahead of the Dutch.
