Lukas Müller (rower)

Lukas Müller (born May 19, 1987 in Wetzlar ) is a former German rower who was a member of the Germany eight, which was unbeaten at the time, from 2010 to 2012 and who was Olympic champion and twice world champion by boat.

Müller came to rowing in 2004 and was already 1880 German youth champion in two with a helmsman for the rowing company Wetzlar in the following year . In 2007 he won bronze at the German U23 championships in a four-man with helmsman and in eight , and in the following two years he was able to win these boat classes.

In 2008 Müller was a member of the German national team for the first time. With the U23 eighth, he finished fourth at the U23 World Championships . The following year he was nominated again for this boat class and became U23 vice world champion.

In 2010 Ralf Holtmeyer appointed him to the Deutschlanda eighth, who had become world champion last year. In the same year he was European champion with this team and nominated for the 2010 World Rowing Championships in New Zealand , where the eighth won the gold medal. With a body length of 2.08 meters, he was the tallest rower in the boat.

Müller studied mechanical engineering in Dortmund and started working for the Germania Düsseldorf rowing club in 1904 .

At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, he won the gold medal with the Germany eighth.

He then took a break from sports and finally decided to end his successful career.
