Alden Reamer Sanborn

Alden Reamer "Zeke" Sanborn (born May 22, 1899 in Jefferson , Wisconsin , † December 1, 1991 in Charlotte Hall , Maryland ) was an American rower .

Sanborn was ranked eighth in the United States Naval Academy in 1920 . This figure eight represented the United States at the 1920 Olympic Games in Antwerp . The eighth won in the preliminary round with a lead of sixteen seconds against the Belgian team, in the semi-finals the Americans prevailed against the French crew with eighteen seconds. With a narrow margin of 0.8 seconds, the crew won the final ahead of the British eighth.

Sanborn graduated from the Academy in 1922 and received his Masters of Science degree in 1928 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology . By the time Sanborn left the Navy in 1951, he had achieved the rank of captain . Then worked as a sales engineer for the Wright Aeronautical Corp. .
