Alfred Lindley

Alfred "Al" Damon Lindley (born January 20, 1904 in Minneapolis , † February 22, 1951 in Paxton , Nebraska ) was an American rower .

1.87 m tall Lindley had started rowing at Phillips Andover Prep School . After moving to Yale University , he rowed three seasons in the university's first eight . In 1924 he was batsman in the Yale eight, which started for the United States at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. In the second run, the crew won ahead of the boats from Canada and the Netherlands. In the final, the British and the Italians competed as preliminary winners alongside the Americans, and the Canadians came as winners of the repechage. At the finish of the finals, the Americans had a lead of over 15 seconds over the Canadians, as in the preliminary run, the Italians received the bronze medal.

Lindley graduated in 1925 and worked as a lawyer. In 1951 he died in a plane crash.
