Andrew Byrnes

James Andrew Byrnes (born May 22, 1983 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a retired Canadian rower who won the 2008 Olympic gold in eighth .

Byrnes won a bronze medal at the U23 World Championships in 2005 with the Canadian eighth . At the World Rowing Championships in 2006 he competed with Derek O'Farrell and helmsman Brian Price in a pair with helmsman and also received the bronze medal here. In 2007 Byrnes moved to eighth, who won the World Cup regattas in Linz and Lucerne and also won the title at the 2007 World Rowing Championships in Munich . In 2008, the eighth won again in Lucerne. At the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing , the Canadian eighth won gold in the line-up of Andrew Byrnes, Kyle Hamilton , Malcolm Howard , Adam Kreek , Kevin Light , Ben Rutledge , Dominic Seiterle , Jake Wetzel and helmsman Brian Price. In the 2009 World Rowing Championships and 2011 World Rowing Championships got Byrnes with the Canadian eight one silver and one bronze medal, and in between there was a seventh place finish at the 2010 World Rowing Championships . At the Olympic rowing regatta on Dorney Lake in 2012 , the Canadian eighth won silver behind the German boat.
