Ihar Majstrenka

Ihar Majstrenka ( Belarusian Ігар Анатольевіч Майстрэнка ; born November 21, 1959 in Minsk ) is a former Soviet rower who won an Olympic bronze medal in 1980.

The 1.90 m tall Ihar Majstrenka from Dinamo Minsk competed at the 1979 World Championships in Bled with the Soviet eighth , who won the bronze medal behind the boats from the GDR and New Zealand. The following year the GDR eighth also won the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow . Behind the British boat, the Soviet eight came third, with seven rowers from the previous year waiting in the Soviet boat.

In 1981 Majstrenka was the last remaining rower from the eighth of 1979 at the World Championships in Munich , Jonas Pinskus and Jonas Narmontas , who joined in 1980, and six newcomers completed the crew. This new eight won the title ahead of the UK and US boats. In the following year, five rowers from the 1981 world champion boat formed a four-man with helmsman , Majstrenka, Pinskus, Narmontas, Stasis Narushaitis and helmsman Vladimir Nischegorodow took fourth place at the world championships in Lucerne . In 1983 in Duisburg Majstrenka and Narushaitis competed with helmsman Petr Petrinitsch in two with helmsman and won silver behind the boat from the GDR. In the same line-up, the two finished fourth at the 1985 World Championships .
