Robert Kaehler

Robert J. "Bob" Kaehler (born April 5, 1964 in Buffalo ) is a former American rower and four-time world champion in eight .

The 1.94 m large Robert Kaehler occupied in the 1991 World Championships in fifth in the quadruple sculls . At the 1992 Olympic Games , Kaehler rowed the double scull to eighth place. After a fifth place in a double scull at the 1993 World Championships , he switched from scull rowing to oar rowing . At the 1994 World Championships in Indianapolis, Kaehler won his first world title with the US eight at the age of thirty . In the following year he won the bronze medal with eighth. At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, Kaehler finished fifth with the US eight.

In 1997 the US eight was completely re-manned, Kaehler was the only one remaining from the previous year's boat. The new eight won the title at the 1997 World Championships just ahead of the Romanian large boat. The US eight also won the World Championships in 1998 and 1999 . The winning streak broke at the 2000 Olympic Games when the US eight finished fifth. The now 36-year-old Kaehler then ended his active career.
