Ben Rutledge

Ben Rutledge (born November 9, 1980 in Cranbrook ) is a Canadian rower who won Olympic gold in eighth in 2008.

In Seville in 2002, Rutledge took part in the rowing world championships for the first time and immediately won the title with the Canadian eight. He was able to successfully defend this title the following year. The world championship boat only finished fifth at the 2004 Olympic Games . In 2005 Rutledge finished seventh at the World Championships with the eighth, and in 2006 he finished eighth with the four without a helmsman . In 2007, Rutledge returned to eighth. After a World Cup victory in Lucerne, the eighth also won the 2007 World Rowing Championships in Munich. In 2008, the eighth won again in Lucerne. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the Canadian eighth won gold in the line-up of Andrew Byrnes , Kyle Hamilton , Malcolm Howard , Adam Kreek , Kevin Light , Ben Rutledge, Dominic Seiterle , Jake Wetzel and helmsman Brian Price .

In the years of his world championship successes (2002, 2003 and 2007) Rutledge won with the Canadian eighth in the Henley Royal Regatta . Rutledge is a graduate of the University of British Columbia .
