Alfred Wilson (rower)

Alfred Mayo "Al" Wilson (born December 31, 1903 in Minneapolis , † October 27, 1989 in Vineyard Haven , Massachusetts ) was an American rower .

The 1.84 m tall Wilson began his studies at Yale University in 1921 and has been a rudder selection for all four years at the university. In 1924 he was a member of the Yale eight that started for the United States at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. In the second run, the crew won ahead of the boats from Canada and the Netherlands. In the final, the British and the Italians competed as preliminary winners alongside the Americans, and the Canadians came as winners of the repechage. At the finish of the finals, the Americans had a lead of over 15 seconds over the Canadians, as in the preliminary run, the Italians received the bronze medal.

After graduating, Wilson initially worked in Boston, but later returned to his home state of Minnesota, where he worked for the heating technology company Honeywell Corp until he retired .
