Harry Leopold DeBaecke (born June 9, 1879 in Philadelphia , † November 6, 1961 there ) was an American rower . Harry DeBaecke rowed for the Vesper Boat Club Philadelphia .

When the Olympic rowing competitions were held for the first time at the Olympic Games in Paris in 1900 , the eighth of the Vesper Boat Club was the only American boat at the start. William Carr , Harry DeBaecke, John Exley , John Geiger , Edwin Hedley , James Juvenal , Roscoe Lockwood , Edward Marsh and helmsman Louis Abell won by six seconds over the Belgian eighth, with DeBaecke acting as batsman .

DeBaecke continued his career for a few years and won several American championship titles. From 1922 to 1925 he looked after the rowing teams of the Vesper Boat Club.
