John Miller (rower)

John Lester Miller (born June 5, 1903 in Brooklyn , New York City , † August 1, 1965 in New York City) was an American rower .

The 1.90 m tall Miller was with the Yale Bulldogs , the sports club of Yale University , also as an American footballer and as a water polo player. He achieved his greatest success as a rower with the Yale eight at the 1924 Olympic Games in Paris. In the second run, the crew won ahead of the boats from Canada and the Netherlands. In the final, the British and the Italians competed as preliminary winners alongside the Americans, and the Canadians came as winners of the repechage. At the finish of the finals, the Americans had a lead of over 15 seconds over the Canadians, as in the preliminary run, the Italians received the bronze medal.

After graduating, Miller worked in the construction and real estate industries. In later years he was a director at a Federal Home Lone Bank .
