Karl-Heinz Danielowski (born March 31, 1940 in Sülldorf ) is a former rower from the GDR . In 1976 Danielowski became Olympic champion in eighth as helmsman .

After his apprenticeship as a lathe operator, Danielowski signed up for the People's Navy . At the fleet school you discovered his qualities as a helmsman for rowing boats. From 1963 Danielowski took part in international races. In 1964 he became European champion in two with helmsman with Günter Bergau and Peter Gorny . At the Olympic Games in 1964 , the three from ASK Vorwärts Rostock narrowly missed the finals and came in seventh. Four years later at the Olympic Games in 1968 , the three finished seventh again, but this time as part of the GDR eight.

In 1970 Danielowski steered the new Rostock four-man with helmsman with Karl-Heinz Prudöhl , Jochen Mietzner , Rolf Zimmermann and Bernd Meerbach . This boat was runner-up behind the Lake Constance four at the World Championships in St. Catharines . From 1973 Danielowski was the helmsman of the GDR eight. In 1973 the boat became European champion, but only took fourth place at the 1974 World Championships. Thereupon Danielowski was replaced by Klaus-Dieter Ludwig in 1975 . In 1976, however, Danielowski drove the GDR eighth again. At the Olympic Games in Montreal , Danielowski reached an Olympic final at the end of his career. In the line-up of Bernd Baumgart , Gottfried Döhn , Werner Klatt , Roland Kostulski , Joachim Lück , Dieter Wendisch , Ulrich Karnatz , Karl-Heinz Prudöhl with Danielowski as helmsman, the boat became Olympic champion with over two seconds ahead of the British boat. For this success he was awarded the Patriotic Order of Merit in silver. In addition to his sporting career, Danielowski had studied financial economics and his military rank was that of lieutenant captain . Danielowski worked as a financial economist in the Rostock military district command.
