Louis Grenville Abell (born July 21, 1884 in Elizabeth , New Jersey , † October 25, 1962 ) was an American rower and two-time Olympic champion .

He was helmsman aft of the Vesper Boat Club of Philadelphia . With this he won the gold medal at the Summer Olympics in Paris in 1900 and four years later at the Summer Games in St. Louis . With the same team as in 1900 in Paris, Abell also won the 1902 national championship.

Abell spent most of his life in Elizabeth, New Jersey, where he worked for the health department for 40 years.
