Bernd Krauss (rower)

Bernd Krauss (born June 15, 1953 in Plauen ) is a former rower from the German Democratic Republic (GDR). 1980 Krauss was Olympic champion in eighth place .

The rower from the SG Dynamo Potsdam won his first GDR championship title in 1976 in a four without a helmsman . In 1977, he and Ortwin Rodewald competed in two without a helmsman , the two Potsdamers also won the bronze medal at the World Championships in Amsterdam after the GDR championship . In 1978 he moved to eighth , with whom he became East German champion in 1978 and 1981. At the 1979 World Championships in Bled , he was in the victorious GDR boat. At the 1980 Olympic Games in Moscow , eighth in the line-up Bernd Krauss, Hans-Peter Koppe , Ulrich Kons , Jörg Friedrich , Jens Doberschütz , Ulrich Karnatz , Uwe Dühring and batsman Bernd Höing with Klaus-Dieter Ludwig as helmsman with almost three seconds Ahead of the second-placed British.
