Colin von Ettingshausen

Colin von Ettingshausen (born August 11, 1971 in Düsseldorf ) is a former German rower who won an Olympic silver medal in two-man without a helmsman in 1992.

In 1991 von Ettingshausen and Peter Hoeltzenbein came third at the German Championships. At the 1991 World Rowing Championships, the two reached the finals and took sixth place. In the following year the two made a strong start to the season by winning the German championship in a time of 6:23 minutes. With that, the two traveled as co-favorites to the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. There the British Steven Redgrave and Matthew Pinsent won gold in 6:27 minutes. Hoeltzenbein and von Ettingshausen finished second in 6:32 minutes ahead of the Slovenes Iztok Čop and Denis Žvegelj .

For winning the silver medal, he received the silver laurel leaf on June 23, 1993 .

In 1993 Hoeltzenbein and von Ettingshausen moved into the newly assembled Germany eight and became world champions with this boat. In 1994 von Ettingshausen finished fourth in the world championship with eighth.
