Frank Dietrich (born September 20, 1965 in Freiburg im Breisgau ) is a former German rower who was twice world champion with the eighth .

Athletic career

Frank Dietrich from the Würzburg RG Bayern formed a two-man without helmsman together with Michael Twittmann , who took third place at the German championships in 1983, 1984 and 1986. After the runner-up in 1987, the two won the German championship title in 1988. At the international level, the two achieved second place in 1984 and third place in the U23 World Championships in 1987 . At the Summer Olympics in Seoul in 1988 Dietrich and Twittmann took seventh place.

In 1989, 1.91 m tall Frank Dietrich won the four without a helmsman at the German Championships together with Mark Mauerwerk , Jörg Puttlitz and Norbert Keßlau . All four rowers were also part of the winning boat at the German championships in the eighth . At the 1989 World Championships in Bled , the Germany eight in the line-up that had already won the German championships, won the title ahead of the eighth from the GDR. In 1990 Frank Dietrich won another German championship title in eighth, at the World Championships in Tasmania the Germany eighth won in front of the boats from Canada and the GDR.
