Kevin Light

Kevin Light (born May 16, 1979 in Vancouver ) is a Canadian rower who won Olympic gold in eighth in 2008.

Kevin Light grew up in Victoria , British Columbia and began rowing in 1997. In 2001 he won the World Cup opener in New Jersey with the four without a helmsman , and at the 2001 World Rowing Championships he finished sixth with the Canadian eight. In 2002, eighth in the line-up won Matt Swick , Kevin Light, Ben Rutledge , Kyle Hamilton , Joseph Stankevicius , Andrew Hoskins , Adam Kreek , Jeff Powell and helmsman Brian Price at the World Championships in Seville . With David Calder for Matt Swick, the Canadians defended their title at the 2003 World Rowing Championships . After victories in Munich and Lucerne in the 2004 World Cup, the Canadians only achieved fifth place at the Olympic regatta in Athens .

After a seventh place with the eighth at the World Rowing Championships in 2005 , he moved to Malcolm Howard in 2006 in the two-man without helmsman , who won the bronze medal with him at the World Championships in Eton. In 2007 both switched back to eighth, who won the World Cup regattas in Linz and Lucerne and also won the title at the 2007 World Rowing Championships in Munich. In 2008, the eighth won again in Lucerne. At the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the Canadian eighth won gold in the line-up of Andrew Byrnes , Kyle Hamilton, Malcolm Howard, Adam Kreek, Kevin Light, Ben Rutledge, Dominic Seiterle , Jake Wetzel and helmsman Brian Price.

After a twelfth place in the four without a helmsman at the 2010 World Rowing Championships , Light started at the 2011 World Rowing Championships in the non-Olympic two with a helmsman and won the bronze medal together with Steven Vanknotsenburg and Brian Price.
