Andrew Lindsay

Andrew James Ronald Lindsay (born March 25, 1977 in Portree , Skye ) is a former British rower and the only Olympic champion born on Skye.

In 1994 Lindsay was third in the Junior World Championships with the British eighth . From 1997 to 1999 he rowed the Oxford boat in the Boat Race , and the Cambridge boat won all three years. In 1998 he finished seventh at the World Championships with the British eighth . In 1999 he took part in the Nations Cup, the forerunner of the U23 World Championships , with the four-man with helmsman , and took third place. In 2000, Lindsay won two World Cup regattas with the British eighth . At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, the British eighth won the first gold medal since 1912.

Lindsay first attended Eton College and then the University of Oxford . His international rowing career ended with an Olympic victory and Lindsay began his career as a businessman. In 2007 he joined Telecom Plus and became CEO .
