Bruce Robertson

Bruce D. Robertson (born June 17, 1962 in Calgary ) is a retired Canadian rower .

The 1.98 m tall Robertson did not start rowing until 1984. In 1986 he took part in the World Championships with the Canadian four-man with helmsman and finished in seventh place. At the 1986 Commonwealth Games , the four reached the final. In 1987 he rowed eighth at the Pan-American Games , in 1988 he finished eleventh with the four-man without a helmsman at the Olympic Games . After a tenth place in the controlled foursome at the 1989 World Championships , he moved to the Canadian eighth.

At the 1990 World Championships , the Germany eight won ahead of the Canadian eight with Darren Barber , Andrew Crosby , Robert Marland , Derek Porter , Michael Rascher , Bruce Robertson, Brian Saunderson , John Wallace and helmsman Terrence Paul . The Germans also won the 1991 World Championships ahead of the Canadians, in which Don Telfer was in the boat for Brian Saunderson. At the 1992 Olympic Regatta in Barcelona, ​​the Canadian eighth competed with Michael Forgeron for Don Telfer. The Canadians won the first heat and finished second behind the Romanians in the first semi-final. In the final, the Canadians won with fourteen hundredths of a second ahead of the Romanians, the Germany eighth received the bronze medal.

After completing his studies at the University of Victoria , Robertson moved to the University of Oxford , where he competed in the 1993 Boat Race against Cambridge and lost. Robertson spent many years in the Canadian Rowing Association after his career.
