Arthur Stanley Garton (born March 31, 1889 in Worcester Park , Surrey , † October 20, 1948 in Woking , Surrey) was a British rower and Olympic champion in eight .

Arthur Stanley Garton was a member of the Leander Club . He received his education at Eton and then at Magdalen College , Oxford. From 1909 to 1911, as a member of the Oxford crew, he won the Boat Race three times against the eighth from Cambridge. At the Henley Royal Regatta he won the eighth competition in 1910 and 1911 with the Magdalen College boat and in 1913 with the Leander Club boat. At the 1912 Olympic regatta held in Djurgårdsbrunnsviken , Garton won the final with the Leander Club's eighth against the Oxford New College boat , after the Leander eighth had beaten the Canadians, Australians and the Berlin rowing club in the previous rounds.

Garton was the coach of the Oxford eight from 1925 to 1930. His daughter married Richard Burnell , who was 1948 Olympic champion in double sculls .
