Francis Frederick

Francis "Frank" Harland Frederick (born February 28, 1907 in Alameda , California , † May 2, 1968 in Berkeley , California) was an American rower .

Francis Frederick, 1.85 m tall, graduated from the University of California, Berkeley , and was a member of the rowing team of the University Sports Team, Golden Bears . At the 1928 Olympic Games , the eighth of the Golden Bears represented the United States in the line-up of Marvin Stalder , John Brinck , Francis Frederick, William Thompson , William Dally , James Workman , Hubert Caldwell , Peter Donlon and helmsman Donald Blessing . The US rowers won all five races, in the final they defeated the British eighth. In doing so, they established a tradition of the rowing team of the Golden Bears , which also placed eighth in the Olympic final in 1932 and 1948 .

After graduating in 1930, Frederick worked as a mining geologist in Northern California.
