Banner Carruthers "Bush" Johnstone (born November 11, 1882 in Bebington , † June 20, 1964 in Bournemouth ) was a British rower and Olympic champion in the eighth .

Johnstone first went to Eton College and then to Trinity College , Cambridge. From 1904 to 1907 he competed four times in the Boat Race for Cambridge and won three times. At the Henley Royal Regatta he won five times, twice in eight and three times in two without a helmsman . At the 1908 Olympic regatta, which was also held in Henley , Johnstone won the final with the eighth of the Leander Club against the Belgian large boat.

From 1909 Johnstone worked for four years in colonial service in Ceylon, then in Zanzibar. During the First World War he was first in East Africa, then he joined the Black Watch and was on duty in France and Belgium. Johnstone later worked as a rowing correspondent for the Daily Telegraph .
