Frank Schepke

Frank Schepke (born April 5, 1935 in Königsberg (Prussia) , † April 4, 2017 in Kiel ) was a German rower and Olympic champion. Like his brother Kraft Schepke, he won Olympic gold in eighth in Rome in 1960 . Schepke was the initiator of Kannwas, a complementary currency for Schleswig-Holstein .

Sporting successes

Schepke started for the student association ATV Ditmarsia Kiel . In 1959, the eighth of the racing community of the Ratzeburg rowing club and Ditmarsia Kiel became German champions. The crew of Klaus Bittner , Karl-Heinz Hopp , Hans Lenk , Manfred Rulffs , Frank Schepke, Kraft Schepke, Walter Schröder and Karl-Heinrich von Groddeck with helmsman Willi Padge won the European Championships in 1959 shortly afterwards. Political activities

In the 1965 federal election , Schepke was a candidate for the NPD in the Stormarn constituency - Duchy of Lauenburg and scored 5.1% for his party. In 1969 he left the NPD. In 2009 he entered the federal elections as a single applicant ( Willi-Weise project ) in the federal constituency of Plön - Neumünster and received 0.7% of the first votes. In the 2013 federal election he ran again and achieved 0.3% of the vote. In the state elections in 2009 and 2012 in the state electoral districts Plön-Süd and Plön-Süd / Eutin and each achieved 1.3% of the vote.

Professional activities

Frank Schepke worked as an entrepreneur in Bad Oldesloe. In 1999 he transferred the business to his son Mark Schepke.

Schepke dealt with the free economy according to Silvio Gesell and since then has propagated the strengthening of regional economic cycles in Schleswig-Holstein through the introduction of the complementary currency Kannwas .
