The constituency Plön - Neumünster always had the number 6. It was formed in 1976 from parts of the previous constituencies of Rendsburg - Neumünster and Plön .
Originally the constituency consisted only of the Plön district and the city of Neumünster. Before the federal election in 2002 , Boostedt and the Rickling office were added, which had previously belonged to the Segeberg - Stormarn-Nord constituency .
