Lorenz Gösta Beutin (born July 18, 1978 in Hamburg ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ) and historian . He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 2017 .

Life

Beutin is a son of the politician Heidi Beutin and the writer Wolfgang Beutin . In 1998/99 he did his community service at the Evangelical Academy in Bad Segeberg. Beutin has been a member of the ver.di union since 1999 .

Since the winter semester 1999/2000 Beutin has been studying history, politics and German at the University of Hamburg . He financed his studies as a service and security worker in an old people's and nursing home in Hamburg as well as by working in various archives. He completed it in 2008 with a master’s thesis in which he examined the changes in the historian Ludwig Beutin , his great-uncle, before, during and after the Second World War .

From 2000 to 2006 he was active in the student council history, the student council conference and various university committees. In the winter semester of strike 2003/04 he worked in the "strike center", then one semester in the university policy department of the AStA at the University of Hamburg.

As a historian he works a. a. on the history of National Socialism and on the subject of anti-Semitism .

politics

Beutin gained his first political experience in the BUND youth group "Milane". In 1996 he was involved in setting up a local group of green-alternative youth in the Trittau region . Because of his support for the Kosovo war in 1999, he broke with the Greens .

From 2000 to 2005, Beutin was a member of the PDS . In 2004 he supported the “Wahlalternative” and the “Work & Social Justice Initiative”, the predecessor organizations of the WASG . In 2005 he joined the WASG, and in 2006 also the Linkspartei.PDS.

From July 2005 to June 16, 2007 (merger of WASG and PDS to form Die Linke ) Lorenz Gösta Beutin was state spokesman and state council delegate of the WASG. From 2007 to 2014 he was a member of the executive state board of Linke Schleswig-Holstein . From November 2015 to November 2019, Beutin was state spokesman for the Left Schleswig-Holstein. From 2010 to 2014 he worked as an electoral district employee for Cornelia Möhring , member of the Bundestag, and from 2014 he worked for the parliamentary group in the North Regional Office in Kiel.

In the Bundestag, Gösta Beutin is a full member of the Committee for Economic Affairs and Energy and is a deputy member of the Committee for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety .

He is a member of the Kiel Peace Forum and the cooperation committee of the Schleswig-Holstein peace movement, a member of the VVN-BdA , the Rosa-Luxemburg-Stiftung Schleswig-Holstein and the Leonhard-Frank-Gesellschaft .
