Horst Jungmann (politician)

Horst Jungmann (born September 24, 1940 in Graefenort ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

With the technical college entrance qualification, Jungmann completed the administrative training for the higher non-technical service, did the apprenticeship as a post office boy and passed the examination for the simple post service. After being a civil servant in 1958, he was a temporary soldier as a captain in the German Navy and then from 1971 a government inspector of the German Armed Forces administration.

In 1966 Jungmann became a member of the SPD, where he was chairman of the Rathjensdorf - Wittmoldt local association from 1970 to 1976 . He sat from 1970 to 1971 and from 1974 to 1976 in the Plön district council and was parliamentary group chairman there from 1975. From 1976 to 1994 he was a member of the German Bundestag as a member of parliament and as a defense specialist. In 1987 he succeeded in winning the direct mandate in the constituency of Plön - Neumünster . From 1996 to 1999 Jungmann was a short-term consultant on behalf of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in several African countries.

In 2016 Jungmann was awarded the Willy Brandt Medal .
