Willy Brandt Medal
The Willy Brandt Medal (also: "Gedenkmünze Willy Brandt") is an award from the Social Democratic Party of Germany . The SPD honors members who have made a special contribution to social democracy . The award was created by the decision of the party executive on December 16, 1996 on the "Guidelines for awarding letters of honor, certificates and party badges".
The medal, named after the Federal Chancellor and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Willy Brandt , is the highest honor the party bestows on its members.
