Udo Reichenbecher

Udo Reichenbecher (born December 1, 1943 in Kirn ) is a former German SPD politician .

Life

Reichenbecher grew up in Coburg, Bavaria . There he trained as a lathe operator and machine fitter, and through distance learning he rose to become a technical businessman. From 1961 to 1964 he did his military service in the German Navy. He later switched to politics: in 1964 he joined the SPD. There he was managing director in the sub-districts of Bad Kreuznach and Birkenfeld for 15 years , organized several federal election campaigns for Wilhelm Dröscher , Conrad Ahlers and Günther Leonhart and was a member of the organization and party reform committee of the party executive. Willy Brandt , Herbert Wehner , Wilhelm Dröscher and Günther Leonhart are considered his political role models .

For several years, Reichenbecher was a member of the Kirn-Land municipal council and from 1974 to 1994 of the Bad Kreuznach district council. From 1983 to 1991 he held a mandate in the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . There he directed a. a. the Committee for Social Affairs and Family and was deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group.

In the state elections in 1991 he won the direct mandate in the constituency of Kirn / Bad Sobernheim with the second-best first- vote result nationwide for his party. In the Scharping government he held the post of State Secretary and Head of Office in the Ministry of Social Affairs from 1991 and was also appointed the first state commissioner for the interests of disabled people. In June 1994 he resigned from his post as State Secretary for health reasons. He ended his active political career in the late 1990s.
