Willy Brandt Prize

The Willy Brandt Prize has been awarded annually by the Norwegian-German Willy Brandt Foundation since 2000. It is awarded to persons or institutions " who have made a particularly meritorious contribution to the expansion of the Norwegian-German relationship with their work ". It is named after the former German Chancellor Willy Brandt , who survived Nazi rule in Germany, including in Norway, and was a Norwegian citizen since 1940.

The award will be presented on October 16, 2019 at the Frankfurt Book Fair , where Norway is the guest of honor.

2018

The award ceremony took place on November 14, 2018 in Oslo.

2017

The award ceremony took place on December 4, 2017 in Berlin.

2016

The award was presented on December 8, 2016 in the Norwegian Parliament in Oslo.

2015

The award was presented on November 4, 2015 in the Felleshus of the Norwegian Embassy in Berlin.

Jørgensen was honored because, with his articles in the Norwegian weekly magazine “ Morgenbladet ” and the book “Tyskland stiger Fremd” (Germany rises), he “dedicates a comprehensive picture of Germany to the growing importance of Germany in Europe” and “to Norwegian readers “Conveyed. Minister of State Michael Roth gave the laudation for Jørgensen .

Bomsdorf was honored because he made an outstanding contribution to the promotion of German-Norwegian relations with "his committed articles and his voluntary work for the German-North European Scholarship of the International Journalist Program IJP [...]." The eulogy for Bomsdorf was given by the Norwegian EU Minister Vidar Helgesen .

The award from the Norwegian-German Willy Brandt Foundation was presented on October 31, 2012 in Oslo City Hall by the First Mayor of Hamburg and Deputy SPD Chairman Olaf Scholz and by the Mayor of Oslo, Fabian Stang .

The prizes were presented in Berlin on October 16, 2007 by the Governing Mayor of Berlin Klaus Wowereit and the Norwegian Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in the presence of the Norwegian royal couple, King Harald V and Queen Sonja .

The prize was awarded on November 10, 2006 by Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Støre in Berlin.

The prize was awarded on September 18, 2003 in Lübeck by Minister of Culture Valgerd Svarstad Haugland and Parliamentary State Secretary Franz Thönnes , Member of the Bundestag .

2002

The award was presented on May 27, 2002 in Bergen (Norway) by Prime Minister Harald Ringstorff and Economics Minister Ansgar Gabrielsen .

2001

The prize was awarded on July 4, 2001 by Foreign Minister Thorbjørn Jagland and Governing Mayor Klaus Wowereit in Berlin (Schöneberg Town Hall).

2000

The award was presented by Federal Chancellor Gerhard Schröder and Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg in Oslo (City Hall).
